Jazmine Mary Unveils New Single + Announces New Album

Aotearoa-via-Australia indie-folk artist Jazmine Mary unveils their new single 'Memphis', the first track from their forthcoming third studio album, I Want to Rock and Roll, set for release this Winter.

The single, recorded at Roundhead Studios with De Stevens and produced by Mary, features a dazzling video shot at a shopping mall and skate rink. The track blends cinematic orchestral swells, country-folk twangs, and Mary's signature tender vocals, offering a more refined sonic direction. With its blend of longing and hope, 'Memphis' showcases Mary's growth as an artist.

Originally from Gippsland, Australia, and now based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Mary’s music moves between the deeply personal and avant-garde, with their unique storytelling leaving a lasting impression. They’ve toured internationally, with performances at Ireland’s Starling Gallery, MONA in Tasmania, and the Bangkok Arts & Cultural Centre, among others.

Mary’s debut album The Licking of a Tangerine won the 2022 Best Independent Debut at the Taite Music Awards, and their second album Dog was featured in Rolling Stone Australia's 25 Best New Zealand Albums of 2023. They've opened for artists like Kurt Vile, Billy Bragg, Gang of Youths, and Hand Habits, and will be part of the Atomic!supergroup tour in May 2025.

'Memphis' is out now, with thanks to NZ On Air.
