As part of NZ Music Month, Imani-J will perform at Elma Turner Library.

17-year-old Kiwi/Haitian singer songwriter Imani-J (Alyahna Sanson-Rejouis) started her musical journey at a young age joining primary school kapa haka, choir and band, as well as taking instrument lessons in guitar, piano and voice. Moving easily between different musical styles from waiata reo to pop ballads, indie/rock and electronic-pop, and writing and performing in English, Te Reo Maori and French, she credits her musical versatility to having a broad foundation and a willingness to give everything a go. In the last 12 months through exploring her mixed heritage she is carving out her unique sound and identity in RnB, Neo-Soul and Afro Beat. Releasing her debut EP in 2025 marks the beginning of a new musical era that she is excited to share.
